Don't Let The Weather Stop Your Fun Summer Activities and Fun Winter Activities
Fun Summer Activities Summer is a great time to enjoy many outdoor activities. Local pools will be filled to capacity on a hot and humid Central PA day. Many pools offer a wide variety of water recreation. Some even offer water park entertainment as well as the standard pool for recreational swimming and diving.

Ideas For Summer Activities Amusement parks offer a wide variety of entertainment and fun summer activities for the whole family. Even if you don’t like riding the roller coasters, you can enjoy a walk and a change of scenery while the kids are enjoying the rides. Some amusement parks offer water parks so you get the best of both worlds. Ride the rides in the morning and evening and spend the hottest part of the day in the water park staying cool.
If you like being close to nature, going to a lake can be just as much fun as the pool. Some lakes have swings, barges and rocks you can jump off. Those who don’t like chlorine, large crowds, or wearing a bathing suit prefer lakes. Caution and common sense is imperative when swimming in natural settings. Check the depth of the water and know where the rocks are in the water. Do not dive or jump into water that is too shallow.
Summer Adventure Activities Tubing is a fun way to relax on the river. This is a very low intensity kind of activity, depending on how far the river is from the road and how low the water is. In some rivers the water is low in areas and you have to pick up your tube and walk to deeper areas. When you take younger children, make sure they have a life vest on and tie them to your tube for safety.
Fishing is another low intensity activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family. The day can be spent tubing, fishing and hiking along the river accompanied by a picnic lunch. For more activity, boating and canoeing are other favorites of the season, what better way to enjoy the serenity of the water than by actively engaging with it?
Fun Winter Activities
The average snowfall in Central PA is around 40 inches, with a 24 -year average weighing in at 46.4 inches. Most of our fun winter activities will be inside or at the ski resorts. We are fortunate to have several ski resorts in the area that offer down hill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing and tubing. If you have never tried any of these recreational winter activities, it is highly recommended that you take a class or two in order to enjoy the sport without incurring a serious injury.
Recreational Activities In The Winter When we are fortunate to get a large snow accumulation, some parks have terrains that are great for sledding, cross country skiing or snow shoeing. When the whether stays below freezing for long periods of time ice-skating can be enjoyed out doors. And let’s not forget about some good old -fashioned family fun and winter activities that you can enjoy right at home. How about a snow shoveling party? Forget about the snow blower and get the whole family outside to shovel the pavement and the driveway. What about snow ball battles? Everyone loves a good snowball fight; it gets even more fun if your neighbors get involved. The more the merrier. And don’t forget about building a snowman and making snow angels, even the little ones can participate and have a great time. When you are all finished, dry off and treat everyone to a cup of warm delicious hot chocolate.
